I cancelled as well. I have 28 days left to binge but I don’t binge.

The annual, discounted rate went up $30 a year. I’d gladly pay the higher rates for Apple Music because I use it morning noon and night - I couldn’t consume that much tv every day, my Apple Watch would be screaming at me!

I looked into Apple One. I’d be interested in a combination of storage, music and news but that’s not available until the highest category.

I’ve never thought Apple TV+ was worth the money - both for the quantity and the enjoyment of its content. While it can arguably claim to have high quality content, it doesn’t appeal to a wide audience. For me most of it is boring and tedious to sit through, and not enjoyable at all. Yet on Netflix I can watch a wealth of content from many different countries that may not be the best quality wise, but stands out in variety and entertainment value, and caters for all demographics.

Canceled mine too. I’ll sign up once every six months and binge watch what’s there lol. 😝 I got Netflix free for a year with Verizon. Will do the same there.

I’m seeing if there’s any shows I neeed to wrap up before the price increase. Definitely cancelling. Shame because it looks like a lot of good new content is coming out November and January.

    Might have to pirate some.

I’ve never had a cable TV package and steering subscription into being cable TV’s replacement isn’t going to change that.

Just turn on subscription for couple of months every year to catch up on new shows. With plenty of free codes this would not cost you a dime.

As an ADHD person I view subscriptions as either a forever thing or a never thing, because it’s guaranteed I’ll forget and pay longer. Just ask my Optimus prime or Matthew McConaughey bed time stories from Calm I absolutely never use, but got a free year from work which auto renewed (thankfully about to expire and cancelled).

I also have a 16tb file server kind of not doing much because HP were giving these things away when they split with HPE, so it’s not like file storage or the resources to run an endpoint are a problem.

I like to rotate streaming services over the year. When I get tired of one, I switch to another. With this increase, I am ready to ditch them for 6 months and then see what they got. I have no loyalty to any of them.

they know many will cancel it… i don’t understand why you increase the price like this… i rather sell a 4,99$ subscription to 1 million people than a 9,99$ subscription to 50k people 🤦

ATV+ has a lot of quality content, not sure I would pay for it as a standalone streaming platform, but I have it through my Apple One package, as I´m an Apple Music guy (mostly for the dolby atmos content). And for $20 that´s a good deal for me for music, icloud storage, atv+ and arcade. Arcade actually has alot of decent titles.

I’ll subscribe once a year for a month. Binge everything I missed. Cancel. Rinse and repeat.

Same here. Last time I watched all seasons of Ted Lasso, Silo and Severance. And the first season of The morning show (I will watch the remaining seasons next year :-))

Does it allow you to browse the shows if not subscribed? Can’t do that with Netflix, HBO and Disney+. But can for Amazon.

Yes in India Apple allows to browse and also let you watch trailer without subscribing. Same with Disney+ and Amazon.

That’s the only way I can justify with streaming services, the ala carte way. Finished The Last of Us on Now? CANCELED. Finished Narcos on Netflix? CANCELED. Oh, we’re done with Handmaid’s Tale and felt it was mediocre? CANCELED. Once a new season comes out from the shows we watch, we resubscribe for a month.

We do that with YTTV for football season and special events like World Cup and the Olympics. So this year is going to be expensive with the summer Olympics happening…

I hope these streaming services don’t have a contract to keep it for a year…god, I’d quit using all of them if that happened.

Just got the email and canceled immediately. One of the easiest decisions I’ve ever made in my life.

$3/mo isn’t going to break the bank but I’ve been trying to cut my streaming costs anyhow and Apple made this easy. Unlike their competitors, they’re going to be adding content for at least a year a two before they start removing any.

I’ll check back in a year from now, having saved $84 (based on the old subscription cost) and probably be able to catch up with anything I missed in a month or two.
