I have a basement with a single ring camera, and hue lights. I would like to set it up so that if there is movement in the vicinity of the camera that it will kick off an event to turn on the lights and after a stretch turn them off. Is this something someone has done or similar? Or am I heading down a rabbit hole?

    If you have your Ring camera connected to any sort of controller, the motion sensor becomes a trigger that your can program actions for.

    I programmed mine to bring up video of the front door on the Echo Show screen. But the Ring integration with Alexa is too slow and I can just walk to the door instead of waiting for the video to load.

    If you have an Alexa device and have it connected to Ring & Hue, you could create a routine to do this.
