I’ve been waiting 900 days for updates and I didn’t realize that. That’s pathetic that it doesn’t have back light, reminds me of how they deleted MagSafe on several models for several years. Must think of the shareholders and profit margin.

This is huge for me as someone who likes to sit in the dark when on my computer. Only reason why I haven’t gone to the Logitech is because I love Touch ID too much. I have an Apple Watch but it can be finicky when unlocking and it also doesn’t work with passwords.

Man, I’d love it backlit, but in practice it’s not an issue for me. The massive desktop screen I’m using lights up the whole room, and especially the keyboard. The backlighting is much more important on the laptop keyboards imo.

People— Buy a higround mechanical keyboard and an Mx master 3 or Logitech g305/g pro wireless and you’re good to go!!!

The accessories outside of Mac are so good and not expensive.

Also in the world where Mx master exists they still charge 80-100 for the ergonomic nightmare that the magic mouse is.

They have never redesign the magic mouse is beyond me. It would sell like crazy, even with a steep price.

Forget usb c, really need a mini mag safe for things like keyboards, trackpads and mice.

I’m guessing they’re waiting for the release of the rumored bigger iMac to update the peripherals then, but it’s still crazy to me that they haven’t updated the bottom facing port on the Magic Mouse still, I would’ve expected that to get updated ASAP, it’s such a design embarrassment lmao

I don’t think it’s waiting on a release, they might already have those usb peripherals built, they probably haven’t worked through enough of the remaining Lightning stock, and that’s the holdup.

I understand the thinking behind the bottom-facing port. It forces the user to disconnect the cable to use the device which preserves the aesthetic of a desk setup.

I wonder if the next Mouse from apple will include a wireless charging mat similar to Logitech’s Powerplay system (which I have and love; haven’t had to even think about my mouse’s battery for the last 3 years).

And yet the keyboard doesn’t require that preservation. It’s just the mouse, and it’s just because they wanted a continuous curve.

It’s form over function and it punishes users for forgetting to charge.

I agree, Cables are ugly. Apple should actually go a step further and do this with the rest of their lineup like the mac. For the iPhones the device should shock you for using it with a cable.

I feel like it’s very popular to shit on the Magic Mouse when it lasts me MONTHS on a single charge and takes maybe 30 minutes to charge it from 0%. I work 40 hours a week using the mouse and it’s really not that big of a deal.

Well, if you’re silly enough to buy a keyboard or pointing device from Apple, I don’t know what to tell you.

(Okay, okay, they’re the only ones who make a decent trackpad, but come on; their keyboards have sucked since the demise of the chicklet, and their mice have always been garbage.)

Clearly never used a good mechanical keyboard if you’re arguing for the ludicrously overpriced Magic Keyboard

I love my Magic Keyboard. Travel a ton and use it often. No need for mechanical keyboards when on the go lmao. Also stop gatekeeping. Nobody cares about your preference for mechanical keyboards in r/Apple

I bought a Magic Trackpad used for $50-60 something a few years ago. Have used Macs exclusively for 14 years. That is the only official Apple branded accessory I’ve ever bought. Though I’d love to have Touch ID on my keyboard, I’m still not even tempted.

I remember a bunch of people claiming Apple only supported lightning because they promised ten years and the change will have nothing to do with the EU.

Well this move, or lack there of, shows Apple would use lightning until the heat death of the universe if they could.

It’s wild to me that anyone would pay $150 for a crappy membrane magic keyboard over a similarly priced mechanical keyboard. $150 gets you a really nice package outside apple land lol
