Context: I’m buying drives for my first NAS, I don’t have a lot of experience.

The amazon page says “new” and has no mention about recertified drives. When it arrived today on the drive’s sticker there was explicitly said that it has been recertified by Seagate.

When I went to look for the warranty on Seagate’s website I got a message to contact the seller for warranty claims instead which was not very reassuring.

By looking at older posts it sounds like it should be ok since it’s recertified by the manufacturer and not some third party but still…

Is it normal to get recertified drives when buying new ones or should I return it and look for another seller?

return it, recertified drives should be way cheaper (I recently bought a 14tb recertified with 5 year warranty from goharddrives for $115) and even then I wouldn’t buy recertified drives unless it’s from reputable sellers with warranties like serverpartdeals/goharddrive
