With a slew of injuries afflicting the Seahawks O-line this year, they brought in future-HOF offensive tackle, Jason Peters to the Practice Squad to shore up the depth.
After spending the past few weeks on the PS, mentoring the backups, he’s been elevated to the active roster for the Browns game, potentially even starting for them, if the need arises.
At an age of 41 Years and 280 Days, Jason Peters would become 2nd oldest Offensive Lineman to EVER play in an NFL game, surpassing Jackie Slater (who was 41 Years and 169 Days old in his final game played).
The only player older was Ray Brown, who played until he was 43 years old.

This list is missing Whitworth. He was 40 during his last year with the Rams
John Nesser was 45, though it was around 100 years ago and the team is defunct.
I read about him, was tempted to include a mention of him. However Stathead’s tracker only goes back to 1950 for game data. Going earlier than that is basically a land of unknowns.
Nesser definitely deserves an honorable nod though
I mean, it’s not really honorable though. He’s just ahead of the people you named outright. He was an offensive lineman and he started one game and played in 2 in 1921. Maybe his run protection numbers aren’t known but his age, position and that he played is not unknown.
He held the record for the oldest overall NFL player for awhile.
Is he actually going to play, though?
He’s going to suplex Myles Garrett and make him cry in the locker room.
I think there’s a chance. Although listed as a tackle.on the OP, it sounds like Seahawks view him as a guard. Seattle’s usual starter, Phil Haynes, is questionable to play, leaving rookie Anthony Bradford to start. This won’t be Bradford’s first start, but the rookie has been hot and cold, so far. Pete Carroll might want a more consistent player in the game.
I love Jason Peters but man that guy needs to retire. Hurts to see him jumping teams and not being a big contributor
If he’s doing what Adrian Peterson did by running himself into the ground by playing as long as he can due to living well beyond his means, then yeah, it would hurt to see that. But if he’s just enjoying playing and liking the light workload of being a backup/role player, then I say good for him.
Rumor is he spent all his money gambling and literally just needs the paycheck
True. Some people like having that mentor-type role
Redditors always say this shit as if there aren’t millions of options for Star players to make money. There’s never been any indication he has money problems. Is it not possible that the dude just wants to keep playing?
I wouldn’t say never, there’s rumors of gambling issues, I’m sure you’ll see other mentions of it in this thread
That’s exactly what OP said
He’s got debts no honest man can pay.
Giving all old fat fucks the hope that their dream is still in play.
I don’t see Whitworth on this list. He played at age 40 last season
You don’t see Whitworth because I specifically looking at the oldest player to play for each team.
Jackie Slater played for the Rams at age 41. Whitworth played at age 40. Both had pretty long careers, especially impressive to both last into their forties. But since, Slater was older, he gets the nod.
List of for oldest player for each team. I was confused as well
What a fascinating career for Ray Brown. Didn’t latch on as a full time starter until his 8th season but then remained a starter until his age 42 season. Never heard of this guy
That’s neat…
