If Wikipedia is accurate in this case, Paul DePodesta (who was the inspiration for Pete in Moneyball, did you know?) helped facilitate the deal. Learned that just last week.

Also, the trade has killed any good faith non-Browns fans (including this Bills fan) ever had for the Browns.

How any team could acquire a human tire fire like Watson I’ll never understand. Course, I’m not as smart as Paul DePodesta, so.

I‘m very in favor of using stats to make great informed decision. But sadly, ONLY using stats and disregarding real Life circumstances is quit a bit money ball…

So Bills fan here… I feel like you read me like a book just there lol…I was kind of raised by my mom in the 80’s to have sympathy for the Browns because of how loyal their fan base was throughout the years despite having rough teams- similar to the Bills.

I was absolutely furious when they moved the team to Baltimore out of that respect.

and yeah…after the Watson trade I was again furious. I didn’t turn my back on their fans but I sure as shit turned my back on their organization and leadership.

I was rooting for Watson to absolutely tank while feeling really bad for their fans.

Was it well known Bills fans have a soft spot for the Browns?

It’s pretty well understood that both cities have always respected each other. If there’s any challenger for the title of best and most tortured fanbase it would be Buffalo. Also Bills voted no on relocation which will never be forgotten. r/LakeErieBros
