Maybe don’t lease solar panels installed on your own home, and definitely watch out for purchasing panels through a loan from the provider/installer such that it allows a lien on your property.

Look into community solar if it’s available in your area! It doesn’t matter if you own a house or even if your space is a good place to put solar panels. You can buy into these bigger, more efficient projects and get the benefit on your electric bill.
