I want to buy Macbook Air M2, but I am afraid. I heard the screen and the keyboard are fragile. Is that true?
They’re quite well built because of the quality but it’s just the screen can be scary if you have anything on the keyboard. The glass is strong but since there’s a tiny tiny space between the keyboard and screen there’s a chance that the thing on the keyboard can crack it
The shell is made out of aluminum. Tough as nuts. But the screen can scratch easily or crack easily. But every other laptop is like that…
You can’t treat it like a windows box
Every thing on windows laptops and desktops are easily modular swap in and swap out
I won’t call them fragile but they are delicate, but it’s partly psychological factor as I don’t want to scratch mine and they are relatively expensive for myself
They’re not really fragile, but should be treated as fragile. People have different terms of taking care of their electronics.
not any more than most laptops
Never put anything on the screen or keyboard. The tolerance is very low, and you run the risk of damaging the screen
Negative. They’re as resilient as any laptop I have carried. They’ve released the occasional model that sucked (butterfly keyboards, etc) and weren’t trustworthy, but overall Apple’s laptops have kicked ass for most of this century. I have a 13” M2 MacBook Air currently, it lives in my backpack.
If you treat it right its no more fragile (butterfly era aside but M2 is well past that) than any other comparable laptop. Dont put anything extra between the screen and keyboard (covers, cases, protectors, etc) and do your best to keep debris (do not eat or drink over it and if you have a open lidded liquid on the same table as it, make sure its in a safe spot, placing the laptop on the sleeve can help should anything happen) out of that area well. Do all that and use a half decent sleeve for it and it will be fine.
The screen is deilicate because its very light, very slim but the body is made out of metal so its pretty damn strong, the only ithing im scared of is the hinge
Not specifically, but they are very hard to repair.
Not really topic related but I would wait til the announcement on the 31/10 before deciding on whether you want to buy the MBA M2
I used my macbook pro 13 inch touch bar model for 6 yr before I spilled water over it…the screen is a bit delicate if u close it with the crums of food or any particle it gets damaged…never use the keyboard cover I learned it the hard as it destroyed my screen…i got the m2 MBA recently and I am careful with my stuff
