I’m currently facing a decision regarding the choice of a CPU for my home lab and NAS, with two options available at an identical price point. One option is a high-core count Xeon CPU, while the other is a newer generation Xeon CPU with fewer cores.

I’ve conducted some research on CPU Boss, which suggests that the newer generation CPU might be the better choice due to its improved power efficiency and architectural advancements.

Given my time constraints, I kindly seek recommendations from this community to help me make a swift and informed decision. Your timely input is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I’d say pick the 2673v4, 2699v4 or one of the top , 2673v4 is the second top processor in the v4 gen I’ve it in my r630 and im very happy with it , changing later will cost you and if you’re not happy with the performance will lose more money since changing processor not easy like ram or diskette Tbh I’m not concerned about power consumption at all so I don’t have something to say about that

Unfortunately, like I stated in my post, I only have two options to choose from. Otherwise I would be totally open to purchasing any CPU from either generation.
