He has played in 33 games over 3.5 seasons. Take out his rookie season and he has played in 18 games over his last 2.5 seasons. Why give up draft capital to sign a guy who will spend more time injured than healthy?

If its true I assume our 3rd would win out with it being close to a second right? Either way I would happily give up a 3rd for either of them, idk which I’d prefer tbh. Like Chase has higher upside imo but he’s been hurt. I’d probably prefer Sweat, he to me is a perfect ‘Robin’ Edge rusher. We’d still need our elite number 1 guy but it fills a clear role.

2-5 teams aren’t giving up draft capital for players in the last year of their contract

Also being reported via CBS that the expectation around the league is that the Commanders end up trading one of the two.

I thiiink I’d be willing to give up our third for Young, and it seems like there’s a decent chance that’s still a competitive offer by the time the deadline rolls around. (Although I wouldn’t be surprised if a contender was ultimately willing to offer up their second for either Young or Sweat, which I would not want us to try to beat, given how high our pick is likely to land.)

I’m pretty conflicted in this. Bad teams shouldn’t be giving g up draft capital, but with that being said the Bears need a significant upgrades to the d line and this draft doesn’t look great for that. If you are convinced Young is healthy, can stay healthy, and you can sign him to a long term deal then I’d go for it, if it’s just a 3rd rounder. I’m good with sweat as well for a third rounder. They can always try and trade back in the first to recoup a pick.

I don’t want Young; he’s had too much time missed due to injury. I know this game is physical and people are bigger, stronger and faster than even 10 years ago, but tons of people don’t get hurt for most of the year. In fact most people don’t.

No. We’re 2-5. Not going anywhere. Don’t send draft capital for a someone who is more than likely going to be hitting the market anyway. Any contender is already strapped for cash… AKA, they can’t afford the price tag after the season.
