Really interesting video, had no idea Mazda had even developed this technology! Looks like in practical terms, the Mazda’s equipped with those engines are able to achieve 44mpg per US gallon (54 per UK gallon) on the highway.

Annoyingly, those engines aren’t available in the US due to Mazda thinking that US buyers would think the car is underpowered.

I’m not “into cars” at all but I do love to watch engineering videos at dinnertime and this guy always delivers!
