I wanted to share a little story about my blogging journey. I’ve always been passionate about writing and sharing my thoughts, and I’ve experimented with various platforms like Medium. While they’re great, I found myself wanting more control and flexibility over my blog.

After some research, I decided to take the plunge and self-host my blog using AWS Lightsail. It was a bit intimidating at first, but the freedom it offered was exactly what I was looking for. I struggled a bit during the setup process, but I persevered, learned a ton, and now my blog is up and running just the way I want it.

During this journey, I created a tutorial video to help others who might be in the same boat. It covers the entire process of setting up a Ghost blog on AWS Lightsail, from start to finish. If you’re considering self-hosting your blog, you might find it useful: YouTube Video.

Thanks for sharing. One can also run a ghost instance locally (e.g. docker) and use a script called gssg (GitHub) to export it as a static site and sync it to a S3 bucket. Costs $0.51US per month to host a brochure site on S3 behind CloudFront.
