I’d love to post some of my own impressions/recommendations of demos for upcoming games and I think this instance would be a good place for them, but they’re not really news and definitely don’t fit in this meta community.

It seems like Lemmy only allows users to create communities on their own local instance (kinda makes sense tbh), so I’m asking here: Could we have a community for just posting our reviews/impressions of indie games we played?

EDIT: Community is up! !RecommendAGame@indie-ver.se

Thanks ssnoer!

This could be a good idea, and if we can come up with a concrete name that we all can agree on, I will gladly make it for you.

Even though you are not from this instance, I can still make you the owner of the community, if you’d be up for that? If you want to mod that community, send a name that could be a good fit for the community, which also narrows down the exact purpose of the community.

I’d be down to moderate it, yeah.

I guess the main question regarding name and purpouse is whether it should only allow thoughts from Fedi users, or also allow links to external reviews. I think the former would be more interesting but could run the risk of being starved of content, whereas the latter might dilute the discussion/discourage people from posting their own thoughts. I’d personally lean towards text posts only, but what do ya’ll think?

As for names, I’m terrible at naming things so I’m also open to suggestions, but some ideas I have are:

      • Fedi Reviews Games
      • Recommend A Game
      • I recently played…

I think that is up to you. If you don’t want to have to lemmy accounts, dm me and I will create the community for you.

The name could also be IndieGameReviews or IndieGameRecommendations. I like Recommend A Game as well.
