Does mainstream media have a shred of credibility left after capitulating to Donald Trump only a year into his second term? Is there hope for free speech and accountability journalism in today’s corporate media? Why have so many prominent journalists been unable – or unwilling – to call out fascism at home and genocide abroad?
During Zeteo’s “One Year of Trump” event in DC, Mehdi sits down for a live interview with former mainstream pundits Joy Reid (MSNBC) and Jim Acosta (CNN) to break down just how dire the situation has become.
This conversation took place live at the Howard Theater in Washington DC and published last week on zeteo.com. If you want early, exclusive access to this kind of independent, unfiltered journalism — subscribe to our Substack here: https://zeteo.com/subscribe.
No, there isn’t. But there’s free press outside of the US. And a matter of time before we’re denied access to it.

Bingo.
If anyone is still on the “It Couldn’t Happen Here” train, surprise, you’ve just rolled into “It’s Happening Here Station”.
Well said.
This is the Don Lemon arrest in action. They’ve got the corporate media fully captured. Now they are targeting the independent media.
My biggest concern is the platform. FAR too many “independent journalists” don’t control their means of publication, calling into question their independence, imo. I recently started some scripts for backing up some major YT channels and feeding it into peertube. My thinking is that if the shit hits the fans, I could at least hand the keys over to the original authors.
The federal government is arresting journalists. The president instructed the FCC to take a talk show host off the air, and they obeyed. The president regularly threatens to sue journalists. So no, America does not still have a free press.
