For your question, my thought is that any platform that requires me to send some kind of ID (like a driver’s license) can go fuck itself.

The new platform, W, will require identification and photo validation to ensure that its users are both humans and who they claim to be, Danish news media outlet Politiken.dk reports.

Yep, W can go fuck itself. I have no way of knowing how they will store that information or when/if they’ll destroy it. I can’t trust “basic human decency” and “trust me bro” as valid reasons to send my sensitive information to a for-profit business. Also, it’s still a centralized platform. If Europe is really serious about getting off of American tech, they should invest in the Fediverse.

I’ve gone back to reading books and actually going places. Even if it’s just window shopping. Social media like Lemmy is fun when I’m bored at work or between projects at work but after 5pm, I don’t even look at a screen anymore til 8am the next day. There’s almost nothing good online anymore. It’s all slop. Even stuff that isn’t AI generated is boring clickbait. Here’s 10 reasons to go outside and go for a walk. Number 6 will shock you!!!
