A few decades ago, the West (Europe, United States, etc.) thought that we were so smart closing most of our factories and moving production to China because they would produce way cheaper, and we would get all the profit without any of the work. I think we all know how’s that going.

On the same line of thought, a significant part of Europe decided it was cheaper to buy weapons from the USA and be dependent on them for security. I think we also know how’s that working.

So, unfortunately, with the way things are, I agree with you. Europe needs more time that it might will have to rebuilt proper defenses.
