The Mastodon Peak loop will take you to a variety of interesting features, including an oasis with large California Fan Palm Trees, a large rocky peak (with spur to scramble to the top of), as well as an abandoned gold mine. Also enjoy the rich diversity of plants and wildlife along the way.

Looking across the land from Mastodon Peak. In the center left, a signpost may be seen that is the start of the spur to ascend the peak. Large areas of exposed and cracked bedrock may be seen below as well as a few mountain ranges in the distance.
