It was supposedly a test of obedience, which they failed…
But it makes no sense for God to pull such a test, as they’re meant to be omniscient. They would have known the outcome of the test before it even started.
Makes a lot more sense when you view it as a parable written by an ancient people who never actually thought that logic through.
Intentionally setting them up for failure with no chance of success. I’ve had bosses like that.
And god, ostensibly being omniscient, put all of that into effect all while already knowing 100% that they were going to eat the fruit. It’s not really “giving them a chance” when you already know perfectly well what they’re going to do, now is it?
