This is a ss of the extracted genp folder. The first time i downloaded genp it worked as intended and i currently have photoshop installed and working. however, when i tried to download the latest version of genp, after extracting it this is all i get. I’m using vpn, ublock origin and all the recommended browser settings. I’ve whitelisted the extracted folder in windows defender. I had another antivirus before windows defender which i uninstalled and i followed the instructions on the wiki to get rid of old antivirus listings. I’m using win11 64bit and my processor is compatible so idk whats wrong anymore. Also, currently i dont have any other version of genp on my pc either
This is not an incompatible file or a broken download. What you’re seeing is a common Windows file-association issue.
In the current source download, some files are provided as
.nfo(plain text). Outside of Windows,.nfofiles are typically just text files containing information about the download. On some Windows systems, however,.nfofiles are associated with System Information instead of Notepad, which can make the extracted folder appear incorrect. This does not affect GenP itself.
The issue and its resolution are already covered under GenP Distribution Formats Explained and the Troubleshoot Section.
Opening the file in Notepad or correcting the file association resolves the issue. Refer to the sections mentioned above, or follow the steps already outlined in the earlier replies here.
NFO outside of windows are usually text files with… info about what you’ve downloaded.
Windows has an association for .NFO files with MSInfo. It even says so in the listing.
Right-click and open with notepad.

Properties > Opens With: > Change > Notepad > Set Default > OK
