    You can get articles like this one from every european country. Wine consumption is sinking worldwide - younger people seem to drink less. Western populations are aging and older people are also drinking less due to health reasons. Wine is seen as a luxury item and therefore skipped or replaced in times of economic problems like we have currently. There are a lot of new problems around like those US taxes.

      Opinion of a good friend of mine who is homeless: US tariffs are great: price of oil and wine will go down.

      Luckily wine in Spain is cheap and definitely not a luxury. However people switched to drinking mostly beer. I wouldn’t say people in Spain skip on wine to save money, rather that the ways of life have changed and they drink wine less often.
