I wanted a watch for activity tracking, so I bought a fitness watch, rather than a smartwatch.

It took some adjustment to get used to the feeling of something on my wrist again because I hadn’t worn a watch for a literal decade before that.

Went with a Garmin because I didn’t want to be locked into either Apple or Google specifically, and Garmin have apps for both platforms.

It tracks my fitness stuff, battery lasts a week between charges, and it still has a few super-basic smart features like popping texts on my wrist so I can see who messaged me while driving.

Worth the purchase, and I think it’s the good battery life which is the saving factor that makes it useful versus annoying. Friend got an Apple watch, spent a week showing it off then never wears it because he can’t be bothered keeping it charged up, and I feel that.

Oh the new one looks cool… I’ve been eyeballing it. I know I will regret it, but I will probably get it eventually.
