I’mma be honest, I think I’d prefer one thread per test. One per day might be excessive, but one per series leaves the thread kinda languishing outside of my memory by the time the next test comes around.

Bloody hell what a spectacular finish! Shame Head couldn’t see it through to the finish, but he deserves man of the match IMO. Starc a close second.

      Yeah, agree.

Australia don’t have a chance to win without Starc, and the other bowlers too.

But you just don’t often see innings like that from Head. Strategically, drew first blood from the opposition bowlers, and got the important first win. He may have won the Ashes with that knock.

      C’mon Aussies!

Let’s see if any of these clowns have learnt how to bat today.

And that applies to both sides.

      Apparently not.

Well, Australia hung on longer than expected this morning, and England’s first session was better than I’d have hoped for, but this second session…apparently not.

I saw England 1/60 and had some chores to do. Thought Aussies were done. Check again and they are 5/76. Craaaazy!

Geez the English won’t be happy about that sixth wicket. Confusion all around. Both teams looked like they were gonna review, when the umpires didn’take a decision…them umpire went straight to 3rd ump without making a call. Then snicko shows more of a smush than a snick, IMO.

      It’s so simple.

Umpires should make a decision. If they aren’t sure, then benefit of the doubt goes to the batsman.

If either team doesn’t agree, let them review it.

They are making it overly complicated.

    England on their knees.

And one of the best Head jobs I’ve seen.

    Game, blouses.

I said earlier ‘Poor from England’

So, all I can say is:

Absolute rubbish from Australia’s batsmen. 9/123 is pathetic.

Get rid of these grandpas. I’d rather have young guys failing than these sad old men desperately trying to cling on to glory days from 10 years ago.

Yeah it’s an absolutely shocking performance. I don’t know that the Ashes are the right time to introduce too many newbies though. They’ve already got 2 debutantes in this match. Maybe one or at a stretch two more of the batting attack could have been swapped out, because the veteran bowlers were doing fine. But then, the rookie batsman was the weakest of the lot.

Who knows how different it might have played out if Khawaja had been allowed to open. How they allowed that to happen is beyond me. That’s shocking team management.

Not walking when you know you hit it, until after the opposing team has confirmed their decision to review, is a very unsportsmanlike behaviour.

I never had a situation where I had to decide whether to walk or not, but I gotta confess, I wouldn’t walk. It would balance out all the other dodgy times I was given out, when I wasn’t.

When the umpire tells me I’m out, that’s when I go.

I can basically respect that, at the lower level.

The key difference in representative and professional cricket is DRS. If you get given out when you know you’re not, you can review it and have it set right. But if you know you’re out with so much confidence that you’d walk the instant the other team reviews it (because you know there’s no chance it won’t be given not out based on camera angles or anything like that), you shoulda just walked the first time.

England collapse to all out for 172.

Poor from England. Good from Starc with 7/58

England have decided to try and tire out the Aussie bowlers by letting them bat for hours lol

We’ll see if the Poms have any guts now. Nasty little 20 minutes or so before tea, and then the night session.

    Muahahahahaha!

Aussies in control. Hard to see England scratching together enough runs to challenge the Aussies in their 2nd innings. If we actually need to bat at all.

Game over. Nearly went twice as long as the first test.

    Same result lol

Funny to see Jofra get angry at Smith at the end. Maybe he can take some of that fire to the next test.
