The Taking of Pelham 1-2-3.
This is the best movie ever made in New York City.
Oh that movie is so good and the cast is just spectacular!
But on your last point, The French Connection and The Warriors would like to have a word with you.
Peter Boyle was offered the role of Popeye Doyle in ‘The French Connection’ and turned it down. He spent the rest of his life telling people it was the biggest mistake of his life.
Also, look up 'Cotton Comes To Harlem."
Oh wow! Boyle would have been great in that role but it is really hard to see anyone but Hackman in that part.
I love Cotton Comes to Harlem! I didn’t like the sequel as much though.
Now I’m in 1970s mode.
“Report to The Commissioner” with Yaphet Kotto and Michael Moriarity.
The book is in the form of the report. Interviews, magazine articles, police reports etc etc. The movie follows pretty well. A Times Square veteran detective is teamed up with a naïve rookie from a big cop family. The rookie inadvertently gets caught up in an undercover operation targeting a major drug dealer.
Really enjoyed season 1. Didn’t know a season 2 was green lit or in the works. I love idris Elba so I’m in but curious how the format will work with future seasons.
