also check out the original tweet if you haven’t, it’s very funny and a complete misunderstanding of what makes disco elysium good
Cottagecore witch narrative RPG would be kinda dope, though, but very different from Disco Elysium.
i think the game described could be fun, but given the op described disco elysium as “🙄 Do we really need another grimy detective story?” and as “👨 I’m playing as a generic middle aged white man again, urgh.” i’m a little inclined to believe her game would be bad
I didn’t realize she was a game developer - that makes it worse lol. I just assumed she was a random .
Especially with the “generic middle-aged white man” bit. Are there even many popular games where the protagonist is middle-aged? It’s usually a young adult or teen protagonist. Then her proposed alternative is a pretty common, especially with games like Witchbrook and Songs of Glimmerwick coming out soon (no shade on these games, they look really cool).
The Last of Us, RDR/2, God of War, every military game, MGS
I might be misunderstanding what middle aged is. I’m thinking like 40-50 something year olds.
Last of Us, God of War, MGS4+5 -> yeah, these are some middle age dudes.
RDR 1+2 -> borderline, they can count, though
MGS 1+2+3+peacewalker -> too young to be middle aged
I don’t play a lot of military shooters, but my impression is that the protagonists for those tend to be 20 somethings. That might be a misunderstanding of the genre on my part, though.
YOU - “I’m so fucking normal right now.”
Mistah dubwaaah is white and middle aged but he is sure as fuck not generic

It was really cool when your songbird companion downed a bottle of unspecified spirits and proceeded to regale you with the stories of foreign mercenaries slaughtering her comrades-in-arms during the Uprising.
It was haunting when you were exploring the forest and found the site of a massacre of Jews and Soviet PoWs during WW2.
A twee-ass setting starring a young witch with infinitely more self-loathing than any healthy person could withstand.
You’re all telling me you wouldn’t want a Tiffany Aching narrative rpg. Make all the thoughts a different feegle.
No it wouldn’t actually be disco elysium, but i would play it.
no i’d play it, i just think the premise is funny. reads like “what if disco elysium but i didn’t have to think about irl issues” more than anything else
