Hey, I’m pretty happy here on infosec.pub. A lot of my interests are related to the subject matter at hand. Most of the discussions online (that I am interested in) are in English, and that works just fine here. However, due to an incredible amount of bad luck, I also happen to be Dutch. Due to that condition, I sometimes want to see Dutch content. Currently, that doesn’t seem to be possible on infosec.pub. The option is just not there on the list of languages on this instance. Therefore, I would like to request support for the Dutch language, the label is Nederlands ( see feddit.nl posts for example ) on infosec.pub. Thank you for your time.

To bump this, it’d be nice to get Dutch content as well. Still learning (poorly) but hoping to get some more content in that language to help me impress my family in the Netherlands.

It might be a question of moderation.

What do you do as an instance owner if you get notified that one of your communities are acting abusive to other instances/communities? You could take a look at the activity yourself and take action accordingly, this process becomes harder if the community is in a language you do not speak.

Or perhaps this is a non-issue and it’s sufficient with a dutch-speaking community moderator.

Perhaps one of our community moderators (or our instance owner) here at infosec.pub could share their thoughts on language and moderation?

Fair point but we have a bundle of (seemingly default) languages already enabled that I’m not sure we moderate.

Well, I am a Dutch native, fluent in both English and Dutch. I would be willing to moderate any Dutch channel on this Lemmy, if requested.

As for Dutch content itself, personally I prefer to communicate in english for infosec stuff (since most of the community speaks english anyway).

Maar als iets echt niet anders kan dan in het Nederlands, is dat niet een probleem voor mij.

But, if it really has to be in Dutch, thats not an issue for me.

How would any of you see Dutch content on this Lemmy?

I might be misunderstanding the Lemmy-verse but I think the main ask is for adding it to the pool of allowed languages. The federated content you see will be filtered by your set languages in your profile. As of now, Dutch can’t be added as a to your profile on this instance.
