Welcome to a brand new week, and welcome to all Reddit refugees.

What’s everyone up to this week? Looks like it’s going to be a rainy one so at least the gardens will be happy.

The Lake District is like Skye though, it can be pissing down and it’s still gorgeous

I’m of that age where it seems a lot of people I know are dying. So I made a decision last week to try and improve my quality of life and applied to reduce my working hours. Application approved and actioned within two days so today… I had the first of my non-working days.

Still need to figure out how best to use this time. Had a nice walk today, that’s a fair start. Rest of the week will be work as normal.

That’s amazing! Well done for going through with it and kudos to your workplace. I’m sure it’ll be weird at first but let us know how it goes!

There might be a few charities around you which do coffee meetups, organised walks, gardening together, etc. I heard u3a is good for trying or learning random different things. You could even go for long weekends to different parts of the UK or Europe to see lots of new places. You could do charity work.

Morning everyone. Reddit refugee here and what better way to make my first post of Lemmy than here!

I’m using wefwef and it kind of feels like a home from home already.

Looking forward to helping this place a great community

Just peeked a look at the forecast myself: rain for two weeks.

I’m in the general area of Manchester, so I shouldn’t be surprised, but it’s July for cryin’ out loud. Where’d my summer go.

I live in Liverpool but I’m down south at my mum’s, and it’s not much better here. Feels chilly in the mornings. I was down on the South coast at the weekend and it was much better there, they really do get all the good weather compared to the rest of the country. It’s just a shame it’s full of boring people.

After our mini heat wave I think we’re going to start getting a bit Autumnal already haha.

Hope the heat stays, got a week in Blackpool coming up in August and I don’t fancy it being drizzly haha

Back to work after 3 months off with a variety of health problems but most notably a slipped disc that is crushing my spinal cord. Surgery in 3 weeks but if I don’t go back today I get a pay cut so back I go! Could be worse, working from home at least

I hope its an alright easing in back to work. Annoying that you have to get back to it before surgery though!

I just came back from a whole month away, as the defacto manager in all but job title and pay grade. What a mess.

      All I can say is:

how do you eat an elephant?

      One bite at a time

I’m into my second week back and finally caught up. You’ll get through it!

This “morning chat” post went up 5 hours ago. I finally dragged myself out of bed half an hour ago. This says it all about how my week has started off.

On the bright side, accidentally getting eleven hours straight sleep has done wonders for my energy levels. Feeling ready to punch the rest of the day right in the face!

I can’t remember the last time I slept eleven hours in a row, you must feel amazing. I actually waited an hour before posting this thread as I was too busy trying to get child #2 to sleep at just after 5am (and watching Agents of Shield)

Definitely wasn’t on purpose but I guess it was needed! Of course, the whole “no kids” thing definitely helps in that situation. RIP to your chances of any real rest at all for basically ever.

New client day! So I’m off to their office to pick up a laptop, password, ID, time sheets, etc.

Commuting is, thankfully, a one-time thing.

Normal week for me. Nothing special, got some work experience kids in this afternoon so will see how that goes.

Luckily it’s quite sunny here so can keep justifying shorts to the office!

Long weights, buckets of steam and left handed hammers on the cards?

Used to work in a hardware shop and a spotty kid in overalls came in and asked for a packet of halogen for headlight bulbs

I went into the back and cut off one of those giant bubbles you get for packaging

Kid looked chuffed to bits when I said there was no charge

I work in a very office based environment, so I’d actually love to give that a try to see if they’d click!

    Happy Monday folks!

Got up today and could not be arsed so stuck in 3 days holiday. I just can’t stop thinking about the new Dungeon Crawler Carl book that’s getting delivered today. Can’t fucking wait!

Finally got some Wimbledon tickets after years of trying. So looks like rain on Wednesday for our day, and we have an outside court not a fancy roofed one. Oh well, will see how much of a refund we get if it rains too much to stop play. Should still be a good day out though regardless.
