They refuse to see the Barbie movie

Well, caring about that is a red flag by itself.

Red flags come in all sizes. A potentially small one is: “I’m not willing to sit through a dumb but harmless movie even though my partner wants to see it.”

A bigger red flag would be “I refuse to see The Barbie Movie because it’s woke!!!

Yea, especially since the strong negative prejudice against that particular movie has mainly come from sexist reactionary political commentators

Well, there’s a certain subset of loud, gullible cretins out there that apply the following tests to see if something is “woke” and they should hate it:

          • Does it espouse or support anything that’s not hardcore, regressive social “conservatism”? E.g “LGBT people exist” or “sexism is bad.”
          • Do “the libs” (real or imaginary) like it?

If the answer to any of those 2 questions is “yes”: the thing in question is “woke”. The Barbie Movie is 2 yeses … so apparently it’s “extra woke”.

Refusing to see a movie their partner wants to see with them is a sensible red flag. I think it would be higher if it was phrased generally rather than specifically about Barbie.

I know, it’s a misleading political statement, like the rest of the survey.

If they’re being a dick about it, yes. But surely there’s things that people in a relationship do by themselves or with friends. Couldn’t seeing a movie that your partner doesn’t want to be one of them?

The barbie movie is awesome I’ve seen it 3 times with my gf . If someone doesn’t like that movie it would be a red flag for me lol .
