“oh my, I think I’ve had too much to drink and need to head out. Thanks for the visit, family”

“You…just got here. You’re still wearing your coat and the door is still swinging open as we speak from where you opened it.”

Or if you live in a civilised country, just take public transport.

Oh, yeah, more than once. At the in-laws home:
    Wife: we’re leaving
    Me: ?
Wife: Tell you in the car
Me, putting the shoes on: K
It is so liberating to be able to get out of some random bullshit!

2nd rule of family gatherings: if you brought your own vehicle, do not park in your families driveway. You will get blocked in and that one uncle refuses to let you out because “we are just sitting here so nicely”. Always try to park in a public spot, or, if possible, in the street.

And here I thought that I had a toxic family. We’re all a big bunch of narcissists with anger issues, but nobody is stopping anyone from leaving.

Is it me or do a lot of lemmings have a lot of family issues?

Should we post we don’t have family issues to make the balance fair?

Or just public transport. I know this is hard to understand to 'Muricans.

Love the [weirdly muppet-like] thumbs up while pulling away from whatever emotional chaos is happening behind the camera.

As if he’s saying “good luck with your racism!” or something like that lol

I take my own vehicle anywhere because I always want an escape. It’s done wonders for my social anxiety. I don’t feel trapped when I have the means to just leave if shit hits the fan.

This is good life advice. Never get taken hostage by transportation issues. It’s always the toxic family members who want to car pool, for some reason

This also works with narcissists. Used to be friends with a dude who was a huge narc and one night we went to go hangout at a club and I met this one girl and we were hitting it off pretty good, but the thing is, my narc friend was the driver and his night wasn’t going so well. He made up some bullshit story about needing to leave, and since he was my ride and rideshare apps didn’t yet have service in the area we were at, I basically had to break things off with the girl I was talking to and leave with him.

Well, at the time when I questioned him about it he said that basically yeah he did it as a cockblock. He wasn’t getting any action with his early manosphere alpha male bullshit but I was sitting down with a girl, listening to her and getting to know her and we were laughing and having a good time. He didn’t appreciate that. I didn’t appreciate that basically he manipulated me into not taking my own car there by myself.

I got my regular “off-brand taxi” habibi on standby. In case I need it, I send him a signal and he swoops by as I take a flying leap into his car and we scoot tf out of there in his hatchback.
