The drama is related to a Science Fiction community mod and and admin. I don’t know enough to write on it, so check there.
Edit: MFW I just wanted to make a meme but dragged all the drama here

Damn. Makes me glad I main on a different instance altogether. Getting banned for complaining about ads? I’d have been gone the first week.
With all the available clients that don’t have ads, is there really justification to complain?
If you like something and it has one major flaw there’s nothing wrong with being vocal about wanting it to be better
Though yeah one should prolly swap eventually
It’s the dumbest reason though. The reason Sync has ads is because the person who made Sync wants to make money off it. Just like they did for Sync for Reddit.
That’s why they put ads in.
Unlike every other Lemmy client, which lacks ads.
This dude deliberately picked his hill among many other options, walked their ass voluntarily all the wall to the top, then shot themselves.
Fully agree! I’m not fully in the loop but it sounds like a lot of complaining occured instead of realizing it was going nowhere.
Haven’t come across any ads in Voyager. Jus sayin
Just buy it and you’ll get no ads. Not everything is free. There are plenty of other free options, anyways.
I’m not thinking of just ads on Lemmy/apps for it. Just ads in general. I hate 'em. And I make this known fairly regularly.
Sure there is. Justification being you don’t like ads.
Use an ad free app then
Are you saying you can only talk about things that personally affect you?
Not in the slightest. I’m saying why complain to the void when you know nothing will change. The complaining mod chose to use an app with ads and then complained about the ads when they could have chosen an app with no ads.
Maybe he felt it would do something or change something
doubt
Why do you think he did it?
Complaining about ads, in an unaffiliated (well, you can’t be affiliated to lemmy at all) 3rd party client…
Well, we can say he was gone on his own terms. The terms weren’t very wise, but they were his own.
But now I’m wondering about the future of scifi@world.
I see you love sci-fi
