Tried to get Hill Harper in last election, but centrists probably fucked us, as always.
Hill Harper disappeared. I searched for information about him everywhere - newspapers, league of women voters, vote 411. There was nothing. He did some publicity announcing his candidacy. Then for whatever reason, didn’t follow through.

Hill Harper had a fundraiser with reprehensible transphobe Dave Chappelle. He also did not say anything about trans people on his website. You don’t count as a leftist if you’re transphobic.
The website is still up and does in fact mention trans people. I didn’t hear about the Chappelle appearance, that is awful.

I especially couldn’t find it linked from his “priorities”.
I searched it from duckduckgo, its a subdomain and isn’t cross linked as far as I can tell, but he put it up and presumably sent it as part of an ad campaign.

That doesn’t sound like someone who takes lgbtq rights seriously, especially combined with doing a fundraiser with Dave Chappelle. When I saw he was doing that, I was like “okay, you need to make a pretty strong case that you care about trans people”. And this is all he’s got. We didn’t make it into his priorities.
Well neither does someone who left trans rights out of their rebuttal to Trump’s state of the Union, and Harper is notably less genocidal than Slotkin and likely more progessive on economics. We’ll never know how much of an ally Harper would have been, but we currently have two useless senators in MI.
