I’m running out of spooky stories. Help me out, what are some of your favourite spooky story podcasts?
I like narrative story style podcasts and dislike the style where there are multiple people bantering off-topic before discussing a spooky topic.
If you’re looking exclusively for fiction, I love HorrorBabble. Classic and modern horror stories read by two great readers.
If you’re interested in supposedly true stories, I like the Paranormal Mysteries podcast, it’s usually ghosts/aliens/cryptid/weird occurrences stories written in by the audience. With anything that’s written in, they can be hit or miss but I generally like it.
Lore might be a good candidate - one narrator relaying stories from history that are dark or spooky in one way or another. It’s quite fun and well-produced.
Be warned that he approaches history from a folklore standpoint and will sort of tell you the spooky story version of what happened and how it impacts modern day pop culture - so if you compare one of his (fairly short) episodes on a well-docunented famous murder or something to a deep-dive series or book on the subject it will be missing information.
Old gods of Appalachia is pretty cool.
Agreed. Favorite fiction podcast I’ve found so far.
I only know one, but it’s great: The Magnus Archives. Maybe you should list some you already know and like.
Uncanny. Ghost encounters, hauntings, ufo sightings in UK. Expert opinions from skeptics and believers.
Dark Histories. Crime in Victorian-era Britain. Narrative of events. Quite funny at times.
Ghosts in the burbs. This one is… pumpkin spice latte, yuppies, cryptids, rich people problem vibes. Cozy and creepy.
Dark House. Famous spooky houses of America. Describes their history and architecture. Two hosts, but they keep the chit-chat to a minimum.
Silent Hill Radio. A varia of radio stories, suspense or creepy, sci-fi and horror. Could be recent, or from the 50’s. All good, quality can vary. Some stories are quite well known. Recommend episodes Israbel, Let me see your face, Ancient sorceries, Zero hour.
for paranormal… Rabbits is good, some alternate universe stuff. Tanis is similar to Rabbits. Alternate universe game.
Black Tapes, this is soo creepy at times. Not a night, you won’t sleep.
The NoSleep Podcast tells original anthology style horror stories. Originally began from the NoSleep subreddit, but now accepts submissions directly and pays their authors.
