what’s the reason behind the 1st rule?
AI generated content is often seen as low-quality (depending on the model used) and can lead to spammy, low-effort content. Many people also have strong opinions about it and get into arguments about whether it is acceptable or not, or whether AI generation makes you a bad or stupid person, whenever people post it. I’m not prepared to deal with and breakup these fights, so we just opted to not have it in this community to keep people happy.
If there is enough interest I might consider creating a community for AI generated dragon content on lemmy.dbzer0.com, and recruit moderators from the other AI communities there. If that happens I’ll update the sidebar to link to that community as the place to go for AI generated dragons.
thanks for the reply

understandable.
i don’t think that there’s enough interest to create another community. “We” can pin an exceptional thread maybe, where people can post promptly generated content and antiAI can just ignore or tolerate that 1 thread. Comments wouldn’t pop up on their home as a new post and they can just 👎 once and be done with it.
I’ll probably ask in dbzer0 if people there have an interest. I might think about the idea of having an AI thread since that would be more manageable, if there aren’t enough people willing to start a community.
Low quality, spam, unethical
First two I definitely agree on, it does result in low-quality, low-effort spam, since they can be generated easily and people often post it automatically for a bigger boost.
Last one really does depend. Open.ai and the like absolutely are. Community driven open source projects, not so much. Actually I really admire and appreciate the work that @db0@lemmy.dbzer0.com has been doing with the AI-horde. It’s actually pretty amazing. Especially their CSAM defense system, which really can be beneficial for Fediverse admins to clear out potentially harmful content from their pict-rs database without having to see and experience it themselves.
depends, nope, depends
Bruh why bother asking if you’re just gonna “nu-uh” the response
He wanted to understand why, that doesn’t mean he can’t point out if it is wrong, or situationally dependent.
i already had a decent reply from the mod.
“nu-uh” was enough for the knee jerk reply above.
See for yourself if they’re low quality ☞ !imageai@sh.itjust.works
I can agree that some of them, especially the more well crafted ones can be great quality. As an example here’s one of the samples I generated for the icon of the future AI dragons community.

Though unfortunately the same cannot be said for most of them. I should know since I’ve reviewed quite a few of them on AI Horde, mostly for the points but also because it can show you what people are generating. There were a decent number of good ones coming through, but a lot were extremely malformed and some were even just noise. And that translates to people posting a lot of funky and messed up ones.
i like “funky and messed up” but i had this one for this group before reading the 1st rule
simple but correct :
Even these are still much better quality than a lot of the stuff I’ve seen in the review area. A lot of which is basically unrecognizable, one of them I saw seemed like it was trying to make an animal of some kind but it was so malformed I couldn’t tell what it was supposed to be, or if the things in the background were supposed to be trees, buildings, or mountains.
