UPDATED – Wagner boss Yevgeny Prigozhin was on a plane that crashed in western Russia killing all on board, according to the country’s aviation authority

His name was on the list of those “declared as travelling on board” the plane, along with key Wagner commander Dmitry Utkin

The Russian Emergencies Ministry has said that private aircraft "came down” near the village of Kuzhenkino

Two months to the day after the coup attempt. His number was up the second he stopped advancing on Moscow.

Yeah, it’s definitely suspicious how this plane crash happened just two months after the coup attempt. It seems like someone wanted to silence him for good. I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s more to this story than meets the eye.

        There is …

“Christopher Steele - former head of the Russia desk at Britain’s foreign intelligence agency (MI6) - says it’s “inevitable” that this would be Prigozhin’s ending.”

“We were told some weeks ago, in fact, that there had been a contract taken out on Prigozhin inside Russia by senior people in the business community.”

from the link at the top of this toot.

That’s kind of concerning, since it seems to suggest that business leaders in Russia support Putin and weren’t aiming for a coup of their own, unless Prigozhin was somehow a threat to whatever coup they might be planning (if it was being planned at all). Granted, “senior people in the business community” are probably all Putin cronies anyways.

Had to know it would happen sooner rather than later.

I’m just surprised the plane was shot down in Russian airspace. Putin’s not even trying to hide his assinations anymore.

I’m surprised it took this long, I thought he’d be dead within a week of his failed coup. Assuming, of course, that he was even really on board.

I was kinda’ surprised he made it out of Russia at all after that. Putin really did look weak vs his regular MO.

        Right.

This assassination wasn’t revenge, it was a threat, to anyone else that might be thinking about a coup.

Wow. They shot it down, too, lol. The members of the air defense battery are suddenly going to get their notice to head to the front if they haven’t already.

Zero percent chance the Russian military shot down the plane of a guy who just rebelled against the state accidentally. The order had to come from the top.

So if I’m the next coup leader I’m absolutely never stopping. If you start the coup either you or Putin will die.

Short term solves some problems, long term risky.

Relatively quick retribution, no? Will this have any effect though besides confirming that if you cross Putin, you die?

Only onboard the plane in paper. He is probably fine. I highly doubt he’s dumb enough to use his actual documents when flying

If Putin wants him dead and Prigozhin is in Russia, there’s not much he can do to avoid his fate.

If Prig got dusted, better hope there aren’t to many of his comrades in arms who don’t hold a grudge. Because Russia has been dredging the prisons and slums to give uniforms to. And Wagner’s crew are to say the least a bit more motivated (ie fucken bloodthirsty)

      Nope.

      BBC has this …

“Earlier, Wagner-linked Telegram channel Grey Zone reported the Embraer aircraft was shot down by air defences in the Tver region, north of Moscow.”

Your quote says a plane was shot down, not that his body was confirmed with proof

It’s a plane crash for heaven’s sake. The bodies will have to be identified by forensics, not by photos.

But the manifest has him on that plane so that’s what we go by until there’s proof otherwise.

Hence why I’m skeptical…Russia and it’s warlords don’t follow traditional rules and most certainly don’t trust each other so it’s highly plausible that the paperwork for him was processed to show he is on a plane when Infact he was in a car driving…

Until there is ACTUAL proof, I’m staying skeptical. I don’t take news at face value unless there is evidence to back up their claims…

Why flip to the side that has exactly zero proof? You could even just stay neutral until more evidence comes out. But instead you race to the conspiracy like it’s your best friend in the world.

I just don’t understand that mindset.

I am staying neutral… I’m not saying he is alive, but there is no concrete evidence showing he’s dead. How is that not neutral
