The link works, but the community is not on my instance, and I don’t know how to join :/ Any ideas?

Also, how did you build the link?

Edit: allow me to elaborate. The link takes me to the place where the community would normally live on my instance (instance.tld/lemmy.world/c/clacksmith), but I guess no one has yet searched for this community on my instance, so it’s not connected. I don’t know how to connect it.

I get a white page with black text: 404: couldnt_find_community

:/ I think your link is right, but the instance isn’t connected to the instance I’m on. I really hope these can fixed by the Lemmy team, because they would be a deterrent to many.

I apologize for the inconvenience. I’m also pretty new to all this, so there’s a bit of a learning curve. I don’t know how to connect it to your instance, if you figure it out, i would also love to know.

For the links, i just followed the guide that’s pinned to the top of ‘New Communities’, but apparently i messed up somehow.

No worries! This is a learning curve to us all :) I’m just happy to see communities pop up! We’ll figure this out eventually haha

For me, using Jerboa on Android, I click the first link. Then Clacksmith opens in the built in app browser. Once that browser window opens, in the upper right hand corner, click the hamburger button and sign in to your lemmy account.

Now you’ll have a button that says “Sidebar” ; you can click on that button to subscribe. The next time Jerboa opens a community in the app browser, you wont have to log in again.

Its a workaround, but you can thumbs-up and subscribe to this issue:

    https://github.com/dessalines/jerboa/issues/524

to both let the devs know your6e interested. It’s on their list of implementations to complete.

    Hope that helps someone:)
