I think modern conservatism is in a bit of an identity crisis at the moment. In a lot of places, “being conservative” is repeating Trump’s lines and lies. The “Big Lie” is still part of several states official GOP platform. I think until conservatives both distance themselves from Trump and define what exactly being conservative means now, it’s doomed to be stuck in this identity limbo.
I pray for the day when society can move past Trump. He’s fun to watch, but he’s so narcissistic and abrasive that he’s also irritating. The media and people on social media don’t help either since they “hate” him so much they can’t stop talking about him.
