That’s why I bought it (and I loved the first game way back when). The game play is fantastic with a ton of content. Story and characters aren’t my cup of tea, but I imagine it appeals to what a lot of people like about dnd. That being said, it’s the first game in years I’ve played and then suddenly realized it’s 2am.

Completely agree, I love the gameplay and I think it does a really good job of letting people live out their D&D fantasies with the combination of dice rolls, skill checks and multiple approaches to quests. I’m really enjoying it.

I’m only in Act 2, and the overall story so far has been serviceable, in my opinion. An adequate vehicle to drive the gameplay and put you in contact with various content. The whole “tempting you with power from a dangerous corrupting source” plot feels a little derivative of Bhaalspawn powers, but I’m hoping the Illithid story develops beyond that eventually.

My biggest gripe has been the characters, so far. BG2 had a fantastic cast of memorable companions with numerous internal relationships, great interactions and surprisingly deep romances, especially for its time. Most BG3 companions I’ve recruited so far have felt much flatter, blander and less interesting. Even the voice acting, while not bad per se, hasn’t felt like it has the same amount of character and distinction.

Di… Did you just look sideways at the voice acting? Probably nothing can compare to what you heard in your head when you read those words on the screen in BG2, and sure the characters themselves may not be written with as much depth as would be possible without all the mocap and voiced lines. But I think the voice acting in this game is top notch. Fight me.

In the same boat. Literally reading the discourse about how this game is ‘setting too high a standard’ and want to support this kind of effort. Also bought through Good Old Games to support their philosophies as well.

You can add the executable as a non-steam game to launch and play through steam, but that is all.

GOG sells full games, not keys, however you 100% own the game. It’s provided to you DRM free with no activation or online phone home requirements.

Larian Studio does quality. I bought Divinity1, thinking this is a small company, hope is looks ok and is fun. The quality was well beyond what I was expecting. So I was for sure going to get Divinity 2, expecting the quality I got from Divinity1. And again, the quality and graphics blew me away. So when Larian Studio said they were doing a D&D game. I bought the Early Acess/preorder the day it went on sale. I like to support companies that give us quality games with no microtransactions. These guys love games and love to make games.

I think the price of Early Access on day one was even cheaper than what it is saling for now. Seems like I paid $40. But I got the free upgrade to Digital Delux. But I would pay full price for this game. OH, and I wish I had bought the Collector’s Edition. I am kicking myself for not buying it.

Wow the image quality is garbage for whatever reason. Hope it’s still legible. Guess it’s what I get for posting from mobile.

    I can hardly wait…

I’m a Series X guy and don’t have a decent gaming PC anymore though so it looks like I’ll be waiting a while…

I loved the originals sooo much though.

I’ve thought about getting it multiple times, but I’m not too big of a fan of multi character turn based games. If I could play it with one character I would 100% buy it
