A transgender woman running for an Ohio House seat has been disqualified for failing to disclose her former name on petitions circulated to voters, in violation of a seldom-enforced state law.
Local election officials informed Vanessa Joy, who hoped to run as a Democrat for Ohio House District 50, that she was not eligible to do so, despite having collected the signatures necessary to run.
Joy sought to run in a firmly Republican district covering Stark County, just south of Akron.

They’re a transphobe.
I’d like if the person I asked for clarification could speak for themselves without others interjecting please, not trying to be rude but frankly I asked them to clarify for themselves. I’d like to hear their view point, even if it’s not one I personally subscribe to, know what I mean?
I’d like if people wouldn’t platform transphobia. People in Hell’d like it if you gave them ice water.
World’s full of wants, isn’t it?
You’re making an assumption of their beliefs based on your own impression, you’re no better than the bigots.
I’m better than being willing to “hear out” transphobia, so that’s something.
And I would rather know a person is evil than make an assumption and push them towards the other side anyways.
Keep jammin all those people into as many of “your boxes” as possible. Surely it’s different from how they shove people into boxes because you’re the good guy right
Oh yeah, people propagate persecutions because I’m an annoying faggot.
If only I had been nicer, they might not have supported hurting marginalized groups.
You’ve repeatedly twisted my words in bad faith, I’m not interested in hearing from you anymore at this point.
Which is saying something considering I’m willing to hear out someone who’s possibly a pretty selfish, narrow minded, bigoted person over the actual victim of hate.
Good luck in your cause. Surely you’ll catch lots of flies with your piss and vinegar.
