I was going to make a comment about it not being glued in, but it turns out even as far back as the iPhone 6 you had to use head pads to release the adhesive

This comment is idiotic. That’s how every iPhone has been and still is. You can remove the display and can lift up the battery and replace it.

You’re idiotic. You used to be able to do this on all phones without disassembling the screen .

The point is that by default today the battery of a smartphone is not removable by a random individual, it might not be super duper hard to do but you still need proper hardware and knowledge to do it.

10 years ago even my grandma could have swapped the battery.

Wait. You people can’t remove the batteries from your phone? 🤨 My phone is only 2 years old and I can take off the back and remove mine whenever I want. The fuck kind of shit companies are you buying from?

There are only few devices with an easy to replace battery and I get some cynical vibes from your comment so you are probably aware. There are even less devices in the price class between 200 - 300€, a lot of people can’t afford the Fairphone. Hopefully the EU will deal with that shit soon.

You all need to hit up Best Buy then, because you can buy a $200- $300 unlocked phone from which you can, in fact, pop out the battery.

Please for the love of god, tell me you idiots weren’t signing on to contracts and indebting yourselves to phone companies just to get access to shitty, locked, censored and controlled iPhones or Galaxies.

Edit: I count 8 idiots. Holy crap, how did you let yourself get schnookered?

Many people think that’s the only way of doing it. Just because you know about it doesn’t mean everyone else’s does, but yes, you can likely go to any electronics retailer and get an unlocked phone pretty easily

Not everyone lives in the US btw.

And please tell me, what phones in that price category have a removable battery (that aren’t complete shit, and the only feature is a removable battery)?

I don’t even know if I can, my phone is a literal tank weighing half a kilo. It has some weird bezels you can screw out but I never tried to see if they reveal the massive battery
