World News@lemmy.world•China Edges Past U.S. in Global Approval RatingsEnglish
1·13 minutes agoActually this. Thank you. But unfortunately on the web you can not express anything positive or even neutral about China. Even though most have never set foot in China. If they would especially now most countries can travel visa free to China, it will change their mind. But that goes against the western propaganda.
China is an amazing country with beautiful nature, great people, amazing food, infrastructure Americans can only dream of, and millenia of history.
Plus China don’t starts illegal wars with other countries, impacting people all over the world.

22·13 hours agoDon’t people ever wonder like me how people would react if Obama would post something like this in his term? I mean, talk about unhinged. Other world leaders look at this shit and be even more resolved to move on without the US. There will be a long, long time to even rebuild 20% of the trust.
How can MAGA look at this and think ‘this is fine’?

2·2 days agoAliPay works only for Chinese citizens overseas. I use AliPay happily in China, but it will not work overseas as I’m a foreigner. Luckily most ATM now accept unionpay which is the Chinese card standard.

61·2 days agoWait till you see how China pays for over a decade now. Only QR code or NFC. Since I moved here, I haven’t used cash or card in over 7 years. Everything you need is in one of the 2 super apps. You order food, cars, trains flights, bike share, etc all through the one app. Even the street vendors and few beggars you see, have a QR to scan.

214·3 days agoChina is not invading Taiwan. I wish people would stop regurgitating this BS and actually see what is happening politically within China. Because the US is just recklessly invading other countries - 2 this year alone - you don’t need to project this on China.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Why is US rail travel so expensive?
251·3 days agoI truly don’t understand the railway network in the US. Living in China now and the high-speed railway is amazing here.
It takes 4 hours from the center of Shanghai to the center of Beijing and next year will be cut to under 3 hours.
And nothing to do with but the US is a big country. China actually has a larger landmass than the US and I can go from one side of the country to the other by high-speed train.
It’s cheaper, more comfortable than by plane. They even have high-speed sleeper trains now for these long journeys. Japan, South Korea, Europe, UK, and even African countries like Morocco have proper high-speed rail.
The lack of investment in infrastructure in the US puts it decades behind the rest of the world. I guess the money for infrastructure goes to worthy causes like invading Venezuela and Iran.
Edit: the continent of Africa is building a high speed railway network connecting 60 cities throughout the whole continent. That is how far the 3rd world country of the United States of America is behind. https://africanagenda.net/african-integrated-high-speed-rail-network/
