  • that’s true, but past violent protests with looting and causing damage led to broad calls of regular citizens for police to be there just in case. then, there are those among police who enjoy hurting others and will try to escalate any peaceful protest to a fight.

    the only way to end this spiral, would be for protesters to instantly take down rioters among themselves, disperse and go home, so it would become a rare exception for riots to start and police would no longer show up after a few years. but is this realistic? even if some groups manage to do that, others won’t. also police could always send instigators who throw the first brick, then leave, so their colleagues have a reason to kill some protesters




  • It’s not nice of him to say it like that, but that’s pretty much what everyone knows cops are doing. I don’t think anyone expects a different outcome.

    One could argue a peaceful protest is different from a riot and cops shouldn’t kill peaceful protesters, but there’s always a chance they will.

    If someone wants zero risk, they can only do short operations that don’t need much media coverage to be effective and without a chance for the cops to be present or find them afterwards.
