But then again, EU does have a current account surplus so the effect would be not have been as severe…

And the Saudis will also get less other currencies (whether USD or Riyal) if they sold it at once because of exchange rate depreciation. So idk.

Unless of course, a third party (like the US) were willing to compensate.

If Saudis wanted to reduce the risk of EU seizing their assets they would do it slowly and quietly.

Perhaps I’m being paranoid but if the country is disappointed with Labour I don’t want them to resort to electing an even more right wing version of the Tories further down the line.
