Yes, I toggled the setting over recently on Reddit - makes it a bit more fun to be weird in certain subs with very curious users.

7·3 hours agoThey ding you for everything even you have this feature enabled for you (knowingly or unknowingly). Remember hearing about a user whose cat would run in front of his car when he was parking it at the end of the day. Car registered it as him almost hitting an object.
Drive on super bad/winding roads with bad lines? Lane assistance might show you as going over the lane lines that aren’t even there.
This service won’t be used to lower rates.
You can still see post history.
I still pepper my Reddit profile with a cohesive fake backstory, alluded to through random posts.
Randomly have chud redditors reach out to me after I upset them, making vague jokes/threats about my non-existent family or non-existent health issues.
Feels good.
Wasn’t terrible, wasn’t great, but I was younger. Cherish your youth.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•If WWIII broke out tomorrow do you honestly believe america would win?English
2·3 days agoI agree that it’s already started.
I don’t know about America losing. We have a wacko in charge that would rather nuke the world than admit defeat.

Technology@lemmy.world•Digg launches its new Reddit rival to the publicEnglish
2·7 days agoYou can sign up for an account now on browser. You can only log in with an email. They send you a confirmation code to your email that you have to put in, in order to log in. Once you do this, you can create your username (which is tied to an email). This is probably to stop people from using throwaway accounts to log in.
So far I like Lemmy more but I’ll scope it out to see what happens next.

forkDestroyertoMicroblog Memes@lemmy.world•what are people still doing on twitter?English
2·9 days agoThese are basically my thoughts.
I won’t fault anyone for deleting their presence on social media, but if the goal is to disrupt the platform and perhaps start a movement for others to leave, leaving by itself won’t help.
Connections on social media aren’t as solid as they are in real life: they’re feed-based. Your loss will be drowned out by the feed.
forkDestroyertoMicroblog Memes@lemmy.world•what are people still doing on twitter?English
7·9 days agoI’d recommend leaving Twitter without actually leaving. As in: clear out your entire profile of data, change your pfp icon/banner accordingly, and change your bio to something supporting the call to leave.
Social media sites do well because, when people leave, the feed fills in around them and mutuals no longer know they’re gone. For added impact, set up an automated message saying why you’ve left and where to found you, or something else to that extent.

1·10 days agoGlad he ended up working on the right side, either way. It goes to show that there are people on the inside that eventually choose to do right for the right reason, and not just to try and save themselves at the last minute.
local communities be in charge of this themselves
You think that’s gonna be a reliably good model? To me that sounds like another hellscape waiting to happen.

Fair point.
