Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•If you do a lot of meal prep for your lunches at work, what do you do?
1·10 hours agoIt just doesn’t bug me to eat the same thing all week, and I’d certainly rather cook less than more. Salads and sandwiches might be good for you, because you can change the fillings.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Is it worse to be hurt by an enemy, or be inadvertently hurt by someone that is supposed to love you?
41·12 hours agoThat’s the point. Negligent actions often aren’t intentional. You can be negligent and not intend to harm someone. Not knowing things you should have known is hurtful.

12·1 day agoHow’d you feel after? Ours in PGH had a low turnout but I always feel better after going. Less alone.
Extremely common. I got into this unfortunate habit of hitting post and then editing typos afterward, and I think it increased the amount I do it by a lot.

Autism@lemmy.world•It's Saturday 01/10/2026. Hey, What's Going On!
2·2 days agoSoup party sounds awesome.
I’m waiting on laundry, then I’m going to go to the gym, then I’m going to make mushroom stroganoff. Yesterday I managed to read 3 whole pages of Monday’s reading assignment, so hopefully today I can beat that.
My dad is still working on accepting that I’m not going to be able to work an enjoyable job in my life lol.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Which language is the hardest to train an ai on? so suppose we make a website out of that language, would the ai not understand anything?
11·3 days agoThe AI doesn’t understand anything in any language. It’s just putting words in order by their association.
standard American big weekly trip + a few small trips, like a single bunch of spinach or a single carton of oat milk. American products are portioned to be family sized, so you’ve got a few days worth when you buy something.
It’s just part of our mating dance. It feels good and gets us in the mood.
careful not to rationalize yourself into a murder cult there

News@lemmy.world•Woman who says she was born in Maryland released from ICE custody after 25 days
58·3 days ago“He said attorneys submitted her birth certificate and other documentation that they say proved she’s a U.S. citizen. But it still wasn’t enough to get her released from ICE custody.”
"In my years now of being an immigration attorney, I have never had to go this far for a case. What we were finally able to get and what we worked on getting was a lengthy affidavit from a medical professional, a doctor who described why the birth certificate was authentic,” Pérez said.
“Her attorneys say she remains under ICE supervision. They said the Department of Homeland Security continues to challenge in federal court the claim that she is a U.S. citizen and she still faces the threat of deportation.”
Horrifying but lines up with what happened in Chicago. They only care about what their internal data says, not facts.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•How high should Congress set the immigration quotas to?
2·3 days agoI haven’t done any research into this idea, but I was thinking it could be a fair compromise to have unrestricted state visas . As in, the visa is only valid to live and work in that state. This would allow each state to flexibly respond to the labor needs of its economy each year. Then federal citizenship can be a restricted process, and limit migration to states that can’t utilize the extra labor.
But yeah they’ll probably come up with a massively insufficient increase and pretend it’s progress.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Are there any limits to major class action lawsuits against the government?
2·3 days agoThere isn’t a limit to filing them. There are a TON of limits to winning them though.

I am low contact, but she is way too mentally ill to have positive relationships with people. I sympathize that she can’t control it, but it’s kind of like asking me to put my hand on a stove to please someone else. I truly gain nothing but unpleasant feelings from being around her. I feel nothing but aversion to the thought of being around her. Even as a child I avoided her.
