  • I would like us to be part of a Schengen Area and other mutual recognition to make it easier to travel and get work permits between Canada and EU nations.

We need to start accepting ISO/EN standards as an alternative option to UL and American standards.

In terms of becoming an EU member state, I’m open to it but don’t rush us to the front of the line. Ukraine, Morocco, Algiers and other north African countries, Norway, Balkans, etc., if any of them have put official Expressions of Interest they should be considered before us.

Hasan has his place, to me he is the left-wing Joe Rogan, someone who has decent appeal with terminally online people and more broadly among people disillusioned or bored with regular news.

The right-wing online ecosystem is more than just one monolithic faction. Be they MAGA loonies, religious fundies, techbro simps, economic acolytes, etc. etc. That variously align and lead into one another.

Hopefully people here can understand the concept of solidarity, you don’t have to love or hate him, just allow him to cultivate the audience and then discuss the differences with his followers where you think he can improve. I found out one of my close friends watched Hasan a lot, which was shocking to me since he hasn’t come off to me as a person with particularly strong political views. I find him annoying to listen to for long periods of time, but it’s a bro-coded way of teaching people empathy so I think he’s worth having around.

  • Hard for me to put myself in a Conservative’s shoes but I’ll try:

I think some in the party would want Jamil Jivani because he has tried to take matters in his own hands to talk with Trump when even PP is trying to moderate on that.

I think the closer-to-moderate/PC wing wouldn’t mind Andrew Scheer taking over again, but I don’t see any indication of Scheer wanting that position at this moment. The PC-wing are indeed getting a good chunk of what they’d want from this Carney Liberal govt.

In fact, no-one from within the party is showing any desire to take PP’s position at the moment, but from outside the federal Party? I have some possibilities in mind:

If the UCP in Alberta loses, then Marlaina Smith may want to lead the Conservatives, as her politicking and dogwhistling seems to be what much of the party base likes. Doug Ford, though unlikely to be out of power anytime soon, may see an opportunity down the line to exit provincial politics and run for CPC leader on a more PC-populist platform. Some astroturf candidates propped up by O&G, billionaires or MAGA billionaire and US Republican think tank money could emerge from the fray at any moment they think is ripe.

  • Yes if you’re time horizon is 10yrs, then spending 15% more for the upgrade to -70 gpu will be worth it in the short and long run and your 750W PSU will handle it just fine. There will hopefully in 2-3 years be cheaper RAM and SSDs again after the AI bubble. You will also have the opportunity to upgrade your CPU at least 2 generations forward without changing your motherboard, if you ever need to.

  • Looks great, what’s your monitor going to be? If you use a 20 year old one with a VGA connector it will not look good no matter how powerful your PC will be. I know you said 1440p so you probably have something in mind already, but it would be meaningless with a 768p so I’m just sanity checking for you. My suggestion for a new monitor would be a 27 inch 144 Hz 1440p IPS panel, would run under 12000 INR.

I looked carefully at the PSU since it’s a brand I’m not familiar with and it’s very important. A 10 yr warranty offer sounds very confident, and they at least have a clean record for their previous PSU offerings.

If you don’t have headphones or you live with other people and worried about noise, check reviews of the CPU cooler, case, GPU and PSU for any reports of coil whine or other annoying sounds. You might easily get used to it but it’s something to avoid getting surprised by since it’s your first build.
