Web Development@programming.dev•A nice CSS framework located between Pico CSS and Bootstrap?English
13·13 hours agoI understand that restaurants allow you to eat without cooking. But what does a CSS framework save you? You still have to write stuff to get the design you want, and you still have to come up with the design. Feel free to explain rather than drop another analogy…

News@lemmy.world•Hundreds of active-duty soldiers on standby, 2 defense officials sayEnglish
3·18 hours agoYou didn’t reply properly.
An order to “kill anyone blowing a whistle” or an order to “kill any domestic terrorists who approach suspiciously”?
And sure, but I don’t think our collective anecdotes are useful here.
Do you ever get the impression your cat is watching you with a faint air of disapproval?

34·20 hours agoI don’t think they do know that. How many brainwashed people have you met yourself? Have you listened to any Fox News coverage - what would someone who trusts that outlet believe?

45·20 hours agoWhat exactly is a CSS framework? Something which supplies a bunch of CSS classes with predefined styles?
I don’t really see the benefit of those so can’t actually help. I guess this is a suggestion to not bother with one :P

7·20 hours agoAh yes, equally symbolic of the upper classes: the crown jewels and Waitrose
I didn’t know I was subscribed to this community but you know what, ok
What’s the difference, in the end? Are wages after accounting for this worse for Norwegians than Danes? At the end of the day any mandatory paid holiday system means the employee does less work so is less valuable to the employer (benefits of returning refreshed notwithstanding - in any case all these effects should be the same regardless of what financial rules govern it) so the employer might want to pay them less in total.
But this should reach an equilibrium where the cost to the employer is similar for similar amounts of labour, resulting in similar pay.

181·1 day agoPeople will leave if they don’t like what they see. People won’t like what they don’t understand. People won’t understand what isn’t either simple or redundantly written because they don’t pay attention.

Your snark makes you sound like an arsehole.

Gaming@lemmy.world•When I was a child I thought as a child...English
91·1 day agoMeh. Pixel graphics are fine but I prefer games that look beautiful, and most pixel-art games do not. I especially don’t like it when they’re “pixel art” but don’t actually align everything to a pixel grid, so e.g. characters can move smoothly off the grid, or things can rotate without aliasing. That ruins what I still get from the aesthetic.
But give me something like Ori and the Blind Forest’s aesthetics any day. Or Skyrim or Witcher or Deus Ex for recentish AAA titles.

25·1 day agoIf you don’t like automation in video games then I trust you’re opposed to IntelliSense-style refactoring, IDEs in general, and in fact that you work through every single instruction executed by the computer in your own head.

News@lemmy.world•New Evidence Reveals Renee Good Was Still Alive When ICE Blocked MedicEnglish
1·2 days agoIt can do, but that’s no basis on which to say “they weren’t a medic”. You can correctly call a physician a medic.

Then I’d just use bootstrap though coz who cares
