Since my handwriting is a dog’s breakfast…

“Today’s fun

Going out for a bit so keeping it light. Just my much adored Fuyu-Gaki (you’ve seen that EF nib) and “mooring on the quinuai river,” from a Chinese company whose name I can’t recall, in a preppy 05M. Don’t know if the shimmer will photograph well.”

Still up for sample trades, can never have too many inks!

Nice. Only thing I have inked right now is a medium Pilot Capless special alloy (i.e. steel. It’s steel, y’all) in J Herbin perle noir. Recently used and now the queue to get cleaned up are my old Cross Solo XF, an enameled brass Pelikan cartridge pen I got on a trip to Athens and whose name escapes me, and a Lamy Safari demonstrator with a Chinese stub nib.

I’ve never been one to worry much about shimmer, but I do like that the way that purple photographs; reminds me of the never-seen Platonic ideal of a perfect mimeograph. :-)

Perle noir is a nice choice for black ink. I’m using Quink black daily going on … I don’t even know, a year now?

      J Herbin perle noi

Had to go find a review of it, but that’s a beautiful black. The only black I keep around tends to be Diamine Earl Grey, mostly for that oh-so-rare document where someone positively insists that it must be completed in blue or black. I’ve enough blues that I’d end up using Tropical Glow or something equally silly that’s “technically” blue (but sparkly!!!), so gotta have that classic black-ish inked up at any moment.

Safari demonstrator with Chineses stub nib sounds really interesting - would love to see pics/writing!

Hadn’t made the connection, but that purple is very reminiscent of the (impossible) perfect mimeograph. Can’t even recall how I ended up with it, I don’t generally buy Chinese anything on general principles when I can help it. I’m a fan of shimmer, and most of my writing is personal so I don’t have to think “Is this purple shimmer a little too twelve year old girl instead of professional?” :-D

Nice colors. I haven’t put anything fun in a pen in a long time. Maybe it’s time to get back to trying out my pile of ink samples.

    “Since my handwriting is a dog’s breakfast…”

You could also use the descriptor that I use for my mum’s handwriting.

“It looks like a drunk spider that fell in an inkpot and tried to walk on the page.”

Her handwriting would make a doctors look legible by comparison.
