what
This, I think: https://apnews.com/article/elton-john-testifies-for-defense-kevin-spacey-sexual-assault-trial-68c1108bd46e5641bc10d0a5b3ccc785
Short version: the defense brought Elton and his husband to testify that Spacey wasn’t at the ball where one of the alleged attacks happened.
I don’t think testifing to factual matters (prossibly under subpoena) equates “defending,” but what do I know?
Sir Elton John and his husband David Furnish testified on behalf of the defense.
Seconded
I think Elton John testified in Spacey’s trial and sorta corroborated Spacey’s alibi that he was somewhere else when the assault in question happened. I didn’t really read much into it but that’s how I understood it. Anyone correct me if I’m wrong.
He was called to testify as to whether Kevin Spacey was at a particular event that he and his husband hosted - I don’t think they had much of a choice. Theirs was just part of a bunch of evidence that Spacey wasn’t there.
