Ironically, while the reactionaries are using this for reasons we all know, you can easily turn this into a leftist meme by saying “Yeah, the Nazis did enslave and exterminate millions in those countries during an imperialist war during the Holocaust”.

Reminds me of that one time we had a conservapedia article here in SRS saying that the entire populace was enslaved under socialism. Reactionaries have very loose definitions for things.

Yes they were, but for short period of WW2, millions of people were enslaved by Germans, and it was absolutely systemic and racist, they were enslaved on a basis of being Slavs and Jews.

Also the serfdom could be called slavery with no problem, in some places peasants were literally traded like chattel. This was not racist though, enslavers were in this case mostly members of the same ethnicity.

I feel it’s not what they mean tho.
