So I’m a first time AW user and its series 7 and I was so happy about it and all, but now that the things are settling in, I’m started to doubt the purchase, from disappointing battery life compared to $20 great chinese bands, to stupid Siri that needs constant internet connection to make simple call while driving (while iPhone has offline Siri for this, the watch still can’t communicate through that) to just bland stupid sleep tracking that’s completely complicated to use it as is and completely false data generated by it like the above pic.

Basically before the first awake segment, I took off my AW to use restroom and mind you my phone and watch was not in sleep focus but was ahead of sleep schedule, and somehow it recorded a ghost’s sleep data core and deep sleep (innovation and shit over here!), once I left the bathroom and wore my watch again it registered awake as it should, and somehow during this awake segment Watch says I slept briefly between which I didn’t but I was in bed on my phone moving around a lot. Also around 2:50 am I set the sleep schedule for the night yet it decides to keep this messed up data anyway. Am I doing something wrong here to begin with, just why this much complexity I believe if it had continuous HR like other great Chinese bands at even 2-3 minute intervals it would be much better solving this.

It’s fairly new watch and out of habit to keep things clean at first, besides nightly “routine” like brushing teeth, facial care, etc comfortable to just take it off.

Cheap “Chinese bands” are just that - cheap. Feel free to use, but I’d neither trust the data, trust them to last, and/or trust them not to fry my arm.

As for the AW, during sleeping there’s a chance your AW may lock because maybe your arm is in a position that made your watch lose contact with your arm. BUT, the AW will continue to monitor your sleep for you, even locked. So, if you are taking off your watch, it doesn’t know that and will still try to record your sleep.

I recommend doing what I do - full manual sleep focus. Go to iPhone Health / Sleep / Sleep Schedule and turn it off. Then, when you are ready for to go sleep, turn on Sleep focus from your iPhone control panel. Go sleep and leave it on (and leave your watch on when you pee). When you get up in the morning, turn it off.

I understand you over there, I might give what you recommended a try, but let’s call it for what it really is, if it had continuous HR this would make it on par with those Chinese bands which was pretty perfect to accurately detect the moment i fall asleep and the moment i wake up, so accurate down to minute. But somehow as you can see the data I send above, while fully Awake at bed, AW registers asleep right in between. Issues like this makes me lose trust on it, and gets me to manually adjust and polish the data every day.

I’m not sure what continuous HR has to do with sleep tracking. Plenty of data shows that AW sleep tracking is nearly on par with sleep study devices.

Regardless, what are you trying to do with sleep tracking? I use it to help guide my training schedule or to give me some insights when I should rest & recover from over exertion or a sickness.

Don’t over think it though. If you are into training, I recommend Gentler Streak and manual Sleep Focus managing. GS will track your key metrics while you sleep and advise you on the day ahead.

And keep in mind. In the end, if you are still not happy with how Apple tracks your sleep, there our tons of well-regarded sleep tracking apps in the App Store to help you dial in to your expectations. That’s not something you’ll find with cheap “Chinese bands”.

I track sleep bcuz usually i sleep at 2-3 times a day with nap included and to make sure i don’t oversleep or under sleep which really ruins my whole day if i do so. That’s all.

I mean your punctuation was fine in that sentence… was more a joke than anything. People who speak multiple languages are smarter than me imo

All good, i agree on that one being smarter than a person with one language, although i sometimes feel less characteristic than average with any given language I speak with.

I love Apple but the issues stand clear can’t deny that, besides I flip those Chinese bands i have plenty in my drawer as we speak, simply good shit for having continuous different sensors and doesn’t bitch about battery life.
