this is unrealistic because ron is the exact kind of person who would do this… is this an actual line from the show?
No I believe it’s “I have an uncle who does yoga”
Which is silly IMO
Doing yoga is damn good for you. It increases strength and flexibility so that you’re way less likely to get injured doing physical activity.
That’s the joke.
I’d say it could be taken multiple ways, either mocking the person doing yoga or laughing at Ron for his silly take
I know a few people who took it as “mocking the yoga doer”
They wrongly believe Ron is right, when hes usually being a manly man stereotype. A kind of extreme example, but people thinking Homelander is a good guy in The Boys is a similar deal, they’re also wrong.
Disagree. Ron is pragmatic to a fault. Hauling air isn’t pragmatic, nor does it do anything to hinder the function of government so I don’t think he would.
TBF, he does live out in the woods and does a lot of woodworking and stuff like that. He probably has more use for a truck than most.
He also drives about the most reasonable vehicle on earth, a mid to late 90s Park Ave with a 3.8. Genuinely one of my favourite cars, absolute highway monsters bigger than some trucks and drive better than they have any right to.

Why do you own a 2500 Silverado if you don’t need the ground clearance? And before you start whining about cargo capacity, most hatchbacks will out carry the average pickup.
Make better choices.
All in all, the 2021 Chevy Silverado 2500 towing capacity is 18,500 pounds. Its payload ranges from 3,614 to 3,900 pounds. Below, you can learn more about this hard-working truck and why it’s a great option if you’re in the market for a used pickup truck.
This particular pickup could carry the average hatchback. And tow another three of them.
What a spectacularly unintelligent comment.
What a spectacularly realistic daily use case.
This is gonna blow your mind, but people tow and carry heavy shit all the time.
I’ve come to the opinion that people who are strongly against pickup trucks are genuinely unable to imagine someone having a different use case for a vehicle to them. Their little hatchback does everything they need it to do, so why would anyone need something bigger?
Check the OP, it’s specifically talking about someone that works at an office job. You don’t have to be a car hater to realize that most pickup trucks are almost never used for the purpose you mention, even if you can think of exceptions.
OK, I’m going to tell you something else that will blow your mind.
People have hobbies and sports, and often those sports involve towing stuff. Boats, racecars, horse floats etc.
Do you think people only ever use their vehicle to drive to and from work?
Just don’t expect roads and parking spots to be built 2x the size they need to be to accommodate your hobby vehicle.
I have never in my life seen a pickup truck towing a race car. I have seen plenty idling in front of schools and at drive throughs.
People love buying things they don’t really need for the peace of mind of ‘but sometimes.’ I would remind those people that rentals are a thing that exists.
Not the point of the reply. They only addressed carrying capacity
Here’s an idea: people own multiple vehicles for different use-cases
For example: ever tried to get a Hyundai elantra to haul a 3 bay horse trailer?

No, you should rent a truck every time you take your boat out.
I’m taking the piss, but I’ve seen people genuinely suggest this
Depending how often you go it absolutely can be cheaper to rent. Gas is expensive
Do you not value your time at all?
Are you actually suggesting a hatchback can carry more gravel than a pickup truck?

Are you actually suggesting that you need to spend and extra 40k on a vehicle so you can lug some gravel around twice a year instead of just hiring a dump truck to do the delivery?
The amount in gas alone you’d save would cover the costs of getting someone else to do it
Nope, where in the words I wrote did I suggest that? I only contested the carrying capacity of a hatchback, and used a common heavy thing trucks carry as an example.
Pretty simple stuff.
the 8th meme is free
What, what if you already havea truck. You have to buy an extra car to go to the office now?
You don’t need a truck. Get rid of it.
Unless you work as a handyman or farmer or something, you don’t need a truck. You can ask a friend or rent a trailer for the once in a year occurrence you need to transport something huge.
Even handymen can work without them. My plumber and electrician drove hatchbacks.
I worked as a handyman out of a camry. It is possible, but not pleasant.
It’s like telling an office worker that they need to work at a coffee table.
Yes, fair, and to be clear I’m not suggesting that tradespeople turn in their work truck for a hatchback. Moreso saying that if tradespeople can make it work without a truck, certainly the rest of us can figure out a way to commute without a truck.
